effectiveness of precede model for health education on anxiety of nurses employed in hospitals of arak university of medical sciences: application of precede model constructs anxiety of nurses and precede model.

abstract background: people working in professions such as nursing have a lot of stress and are at risk for anxiety disorders. the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of applied relaxation educational program based on precede model on decreasing anxiety of nurses. methods: in this interventional study with a control group, 40 nurses of vali-asr hospital as intervention group and 40 nurses of amir al-momenin hospital of arak city entered the study as control group.  both groups were selected randomly. spielberger questionnaire used to assess state anxiety and trait anxiety and designed questionnaire based on precede model was used for intervention. the intervention was performed 7 sessions lasting 60 to 90 minutes. before, immediately after and 6 months after intervention, the questionnaires filled. data was analyzed by spss software.) p<0.05( was considered significant. findings: mean score of state and trait anxiety was not different between groups (p=0.3), but immediately after and 6 months after intervention, mean score of state and trait anxiety was significantly lower in case group (p<0.001). predisposing, enabling, and reinforcing factors and coping behaviors significantly increased in the intervention group compared to control group immediately and 6 months after intervention (p<0.001). conclusion: the findings confirmed the effect of precede model-based educational program for nurses to reduce anxiety. it seems that using precede model-based educational interventions (especially training to improve physical and mental health) can improve health and increase the efficiency of the target population whether in specific or general population. key words: anxiety, nurses, educational intervention, precede model
